For the last many years have sat on my porch with excellent beer and great music as I watched my yard critters. I was very happy.
My environment changed when I lost my wonderful yard.
Having free time (and no place to drink and play tunes) I came up with the fool notion to drop a couple pounds (from 211) and attempt a footrace on my birthday.
Yesterday I lined up at the '20th Annual Lions Club 5K' in Elberton (figured they needed a Tiger fan there). If interested, I posted my experience here:

You could replace that liquor bottle with a sling blade and trim a ditch bank with that energy.

My best 5k time ever was 38 minutes and that was on the flat ground of John’s Is
My knees made me give up on training before I could get down to faster time and a lower weight

Congrats to you!!! My Back would have laid me down after the first 100 yards screaming from the back spasm pain, and I'm absolutely sure of it, but, I still have hopes there will be a fix for me before my time runs out if medical scientist will hurry things up a bit!!!

That’s great Tug! Wish I had known you were looking for something like that. I’ve been 30 miles from Elberton in the very small town of Maxeys, GA helping my in-laws with a 5k that my mother in law started 5 years ago to raise money for a greenway along an old rail bed that runs from Athens to Union Point. The race was yesterday. My wife runs the race and I help set up signs, markers and stuff prior to the race and then help with traffic and parking on race day. It was a great day for it yesterday. Glad it wasn’t today. We might have drowned.
