2014 vs 2018 Defense

Jan 11, 2018, 10:30 AM

I know CBV uses the 2014 defense as the standard, but say the whole DL does come back. I think 2018's defense will have the potential to rewrite the book as to which defense is the best of all time at Clemson. We may be a little thin at S but otherwise I think we are stacked at every position.

IMO one of the biggest challenges this off season for the defense, will be trying to find a replacement for DOD.

Thoughts?

Williams or Jones would be my guess or S Smith or Davis moves over maybe.

Best of all time at Clemson? Are you kidding?

I’m thinking more like potentially the best of all time in college football.

:)

Simmons will take DOD

Jan 11, 2018, 12:54 PM

position,

Safety will be K'von Wallace and Muse

I'm interested to see how LeAnthony Williams plays in. Will he play corner or safety? I think Mullen will be one DB and the other will be combo of Fields and Terrell. We need to bring in at least 1 DB this cycle and have 0. I think DJ Brown would be a good one. He seems like a smart kid and fits the Clemson mold.

Mike Jones could take over for DOD

And Simmons could stay at safety. That would add depth if Jones is really ready.

I think we are too thin at Safety to move Simmons to Sam/NB.

And so might Baylon Spector.

Brown is a mid-range 3* Cornerback. We need a 4* / 5* Safety. And yes, I know star rating is not the end all & be all.
