2012 season

Jul 9, 2012, 1:51 PM

I know I'm not alone, but I've got a REALLY good feeling about this upcoming season, and the future of Clemson football as well. We have all the right pieces now...talent, leadership, coaching, experience....everything's gonna come together this year. There's not one team on the schedule that we're not more than capable of beating. So let's go out there and do it! Go Tigers!

in every other game it plays. The biggest keys to success will be significant improvement on defense, the OL coming together and playing like a veteran unit, and avoiding those let-down "W#F" type games (see the NC State and GT games from last year).

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

yeah I agree....except I think the biggest difference between this year and last year is maturity. Last year we had goofs because we were overconfident or under prepared. I think this time around the boys will be focused the whole season

Absolutely. 12-0 is definitely reachable this year, we just can't have any let downs. Especially against the coots.

I agree. To make a run like I am expecting we got to get a couple of lucky things to happen along the way. Also, we need to execute every game to our potential. For example in the USUCK game last year, if Sammy catches that long pass, it totally changes the game and I believe we would have taken the momentum at that point. NC State we fumbled the ball in our own 20 and later had to punt from our own endzone and gave up a big return. WV we are about to score to take the lead and fumble, big momentum swing.

I don't mean to sound like TB but one or two plays in each game can make a huge difference.

different season. Maryland down by 18 twice. Wake last second field goal. UNC just able to outscore them.

No room for slip ups versus anyone.

I don't know that I'd call beating UNC 59-38 "just being able to outscore them". And the game wasn't even that close.

Jul 9, 2012, 2:34 PM [ in reply to one or two plays the other way and it's a ]

This is true....in those games, Clemson had to outscore opponents to win the games. In the final 4-5 games, it struggled to do that due to injuries and breakdowns along the OL...

The big question for 2012 is, both interior lines should be expected to be WORSE than the lines of 2011. How can they not be? The depth at both positions have not improved significantly, while the depth of experience for both lines have taken a huge hit.

In order for one or both of the OL and DL to improve will require pleasant surprises of production from more than just 1 of the starters...for players to rise above themselves. It can happen, but it's not the best idea to be expecting it to....

WRONG, as usual.***

Couldn't have said it better....always 1 big play that turns the game. If Sammy catches that ball Im sure we beat USC...and I'm sure the WVU game would have turned out a lot different if that fumble is a TD for us instead of them.

We have Jamie Harper and Da'Quan on the team last year? No way we lose to Ga Tech or NC State. Same thing if we have ALlen this year. I hate players leaving early...

I know what you mean. Everytime I have to hear the coots say something about 3 in a row, it just pisses me off knowing that TD (and it was going to be a TD, no way they would've caught Sammy) would have took all the wind out their sails.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's funny the coots keep saying Sammy dropkins

Jul 11, 2012, 12:00 AM [ in reply to Re: 2012 season ]

and completely ignore that even injured he was WIDE open behind their secondary. Also Nuk dropped a suprisingly high number of balls that game. I rememebr a few that left me thinking, what's going on here Nuk doesn't drop those. They love their 3 in a row but with Venables in and a healthy and improved if that's even possible WR crop they're going to get a beat down in the Valley.

We will go 11-1 this season.***
