There was more athleticism than I remembered back then. We scored 29 points! We were laden with NFL talent. Fun game to watch.

I also meant to say that there were a lot of similarities to that 1981 team and the DW4 natty team …. On both sides of the ball. Lot’s of NFL guys on both teams and as I said a lot of athleticism. I believe Homer was quicker than DW4. This game and the first Natty i recently posted are worth a rewatch.

What’s pretty interesting is to watch the 1977 Gator Bowl against Pitt. I’m not sure how we won 8 games that year but you can see a huge talent gap in the bowl game. We really started looking better in 1978 and by 1981 we were as good looking a football team as any in the country. Amazing climb.
