I’d wager to bet many are on scholarship. We keep losing transfers, and not replacing them with the successive recruiting class or through the portal, and then the scholarships go to walk ons.

Aww, looks like someone’s a little salty. Never, in any part of my answer, did I say the sky is falling, but feel free to project. I stayed that we’ve lost many players to the portal over the years, then not taken large classes to replace those numbers, or hit the portal, and as a result, we’ve given a lot of those scholarships to walk-ons and players we normally wouldn’t take, like a Lawson. But feel free to carry on Karen.

I think most are walk ons except Lawson and Venables. Most years there have been several walk ons from Daniel going back to the early 80’s. Daniel is much better at football these days so there are probably more players who can survive at a top tier college program. Daniel has also produced several stars for Clemson in recent years.

so that makes 3. Unlike others, I have no issue with the starting holder on kicks being on scholarship. Especially since no Swinney has ever muffed a snap

Usually that job falls to the back up QB or punter so a scholarship is not wasted. Also brings in the possibility of a fake field goal. Nope. He does more than hold. Have you watched him on punt return and kick return teams? I have. To say he is out of place is an understatement. We now have Clay Swinney to deal with for 4 more years.

He also plays receiver. He was on the field in the X receiver position on the play where DJ threw the interception to the tight end, #84 during the Carolina game. Now explain that to me....when we are trying to win the game why he's out there. Nepotism much!

I looked it up on the TNet scholarship breakdown page. It showed 14 Daniel players on the team. 3 of those are on scholarship- Drew Swinney, Lawson and Venables. Drew is the only one that started as a walk-on. Lawson and Venables were offered scholarships during recruitment.

Holding tackling dummies, taking real player practice reps, and eating like a scholarship player is fine. It's almost country club fine with the current player perks. What is not fine is the upperclass Daniel players, including the Swinney's, getting scholarships and getting on the field sometimes early in the games. Further underlined when the top h.s. QB in the country does not get the right reps.

Dabo's "walkons can win a championship if they get a chance" philosophy probably extends all the way to the President of the United States at this point.
He thinks he can have a team of all 1* walk on players and win championships apparently.
Having Renfrow was a big mistake for Dabo. He thinks the whole team can be found scrapping in JUCO rankings.
