The new revenue sharing plan is going to put tremendous pressure on BB. Clemson won't be receiving much NCAA basketball tournament revenue since BB can't get his teams in it.

More The ACC is down in basketball, if he can't win the ACC and go deep in the NCAA tournament with the talent next year, he never will.

Brad's probably got $30-$40M in the bank or in his Charles Schwab account mostly from Clemson. There's no real pressure on him.

13 years without needing performance - why now different?

Show up, make money, don’t do anything illegal - finish in middle to bottom of ACC, not make ncaa, not win ACC - not recruit well - keep job.

This puts more pressure on Brad, which should in turn

pay off for Clemson hoops fans next season, though this situation is a little different. Brad has had a great gift over his tenure here of rising to the occasion when his back is against the wall in contract years. Last year he had us in rarefied air there for a bit in the ACC, and attendance and finances ticked up some as a consequence. Neff let him off the hook, and us down, with his pre-NIT praise, and we saw what happened next.
So yeah, with Hall back and all the roster improvements across the board as is being reported, and last year's big 3rd place finish in the league standings, there will actually be decent expectations for this team, which will ramp up the pressure even more. This will be the first time though that he will have to coach for his job AND deal with lofty expectations simultaneously. Generally speaking after the few successful seasons he's had he's gotten a nice raise and extension following, so with expectations high, but job pressure off, we largely wallow after. With expectations low and job pressure high, he exceeds the low expectations and gets re-upped in the 'wait til next year' vein. Both at the same time, like we have coming up this season, will be a new experience.
I'm still going with the 'Nobody puts Bradley in a corner' theme though. This guy has perfected the art of just enough just in time, so that's where I have my money.
Go Tigers!

Not sure Brownell feels any pressure. Currently in the best job in America. Make the occasional NIT and you may get an extension.

It should put more pressure on him but it also gives him a great player to help the team.

Anything less than an NCAA tournament bid should result in a firing with this latest development. I'll go a step further and say he needs to advance out of the 1st round as well.

I know most of us criticized Neff's decision to retain BB after the collapse from leading ACC at league halfway point to failing to make NCAAT & washing out in 1st rd of NIT.
Been positive talk on the transfers, & Hall (if he can remain health) is a big boost. That said, the MO in the Brownell tenure is when they put together a good season (via win total or postseason advancement), they usually fall off the next year w/ the loss of just even 1 piece (think 2014-15 & 2018-19 for example). We're losing 2 here w/ Tyson & Galloway.
Now add in the new revenue sharing model, not making the NCAAT is gonna mean less money for Clemson. Just to put in context, most recent $ I saw was north of $330k per unit for NCAAT (1 unit per appearance, then additional units per advancement) awards to each conference.
Have to believe that 2024 is a win or else scenario for Brownell given how last year shook out & w/ that change in the revenue model.

by flunking out in the first round of the NIT. As a 1 seed we had two more potential home games in front of us. Considering Neff largely based praise on the uptick in turnout and revenues this past season, you can bet that got the full attention of the powers that be.

is really ramped up, no doubt. Buffoonell may have to bring in an outside ###### writer to make sure he’s covered.
JK and Mountaineer can breathe easy though. I’m pretty sure that doesn’t count against the scholly limit.
