100% Dabo's tune on the portal DID change.

Before a month or so ago, the only time Dabo mentioned the portal was AFTER a reporter asked him a heated question about portal use. Dabo's response was generally, but not always, a little defensive.
NOW...Dabo talks about the portal almost with a certain passion about using it. There is no doubt that something in his own mind changed about the portal. Not saying anything is wrong one way or the other, but it can not be denied that there was a shift.

What world are you in? Today he was very adament about not needing it. And no media has yet to ask him why Clemson is the only school in the country that’s never had a portal starter. We’ve never had one break the 3 deep.

I didn't say he started using at the same level as other schools, I said his tune changed from never using/never talking about it/defensive posture to literally saying today "we wouldn't have gotten this guy if not for the portal". He also mentioned the portal 5 or 6 times and I'm only half way through the press conference.
Once AGAIN...FOR THOSE IN THE BACK...Dabo's portal tune changed FROM...never talking about it and being hostile, to talking about it constantly, almost with a passion TODAY. Never once did I say he is using as the other schools do.

It’s nothing but lip service. This program has not made any sincere attempt at using the portal and doesn’t sound like he ever will. And it will be to the detriment of Clemson football.

Except it's not the same track and that was the point of this post. Before it was a "third rail" that was not to be mentioned. Today, he's slinging the word portal around almost with a certain "glee". Now, whether this new "tune" will actually amount to more Jimmy's and Joe's is another thing, but one can't deny he is off his soapbox regarding the portal and all that it entails. I for one am glad to see the change even if it's on the surface for now. Maybe he makes the next step AFTER this, but this is a step all the same.

For those sitting in the back who don't seem to be paying attention. The top tier guys who could make a difference on the 1st team have their hands out for cash. Dabo actively used the portal this cycle, so his tune did change but not on up front NIL. So, he will use the portal to fill in but it won't be the top tier guys you desperately want on our team. You know, the rent-a-player types who are here this year and gone the next.

Thanks for also recognizing the obvious that Dabo's portal tune did change. And all those complaining now that Dabo's tune changed are all complaining about not getting the rent-a-players, when the entire time they all just wanted Dabo to get "guys that could help". Now that Dabo is getting guys "that can help", they say he hasn't changed his tune because they aren't "starters". So it looks like BOTH Dabo and the shills have changed their portal tunes at the same time.

I’m positive there are guys going to the highest bidder, but I’m also positive that’s not all of them. Many want a better chance to start or better position coaches to help them be ready for the next level. I’m sure some just made a mistake and didn’t realize that Miami of Ohio does not in fact have a warm beach

As far as I'm concerned that offer and the backup QB portal guy where just portal *asterisks because that whole time Dabo carried a very hostile stance regarding the portal. I'm not saying those were fake uses or whatever, but without at the very least being openly passionate or at least openly agreeable to the portal, then those uses really don't matter. Today is the first time I've seen him discuss the portal and portal "gets" with a smidge of happiness, something that I never saw before.
