Drive and pop out to Girard should be 30% of out offense. Right now Girard has to create his own shot to get one which is not his game. That’s why we’re losing these bigger games. For him to be non existent in the past 2 losses is a failure in game planning bc other teams are simply going to stay in his shirt and take their chances with the rest. BB has to figure out how to get Girard some open looks consistently or we may not get as much as we’d have hoped out of this season.

Disciplined, long, athletic defenders will give Girard issues

Chase taking the ball into the paint is a good start but “consistently” converting those drives into points for himself or teammates is needed. Also having Wiggins consistently converting 3s is important. Offensive schemes in the 2020s often incorporate 3 or even 4 good three point shooters and 3 to 4 passes to get them open as the defenses shift. This also opens up the lane for cutters and back doors.

I think we saw PJ's limitations yesterday as well, and UNC showed how

to best neutralize him. It's hard to say just how much of yesterday was just us being cold, and how much was due to UNC's design and effort, but they had the right plan for sure. PJ can beat 90% of the guys he faces 1-on-1, but they had a good, long, athletic defender on him, and had an extra man step in to help almost every time he got the ball. That frustrated PJ and caused him to rush and force up some shots. I love PJ, but he can be neutralized to some extent by good teams, especially when everybody else is cold or shut down as well.

I agree 100%! I think Hunter should run the point and we need to dish it down in the paint. If the defensive help doesn’t come, set a screen to get Girard open and kick it out to him for three. Girard is on pace to be one of the best three point shooters in ACC history.
I also see stretches where BrownL will pull the hot hand and leave in someone who is ice cold. BrownL fails to make proper adjustments and change the game plan on the fly. It’s like he’s a one trick pony and afraid to mix plans up and utilize what the other team is giving us.
I honestly feel this team has the talent to run to the elite 8 or maybe even the final four. I wasn’t surprised at all to see the eggs laid the last two games. I expect BrownL to ###### defeat from the jaws of victory. Einstein’s definition of insanity is continuing to believe BrownL is suddenly going put together a juggernaut team when his record is to lose and make the NIT or no post season play at all. I expect the latter as long as he is the head MBB coach at Clemson.

In joe girard's best year scoring he averaged 16.4 ppg at syracuse. His FG % was 40.3 and 3 point % was 38.1%. He took a lot of shots because he was one of the only scoring threats on a bad team.
This year, JG is averaging 15 ppg with a 44.2% FG % and a 43.3% 3 point %. He is having to share the wealth on a better team with better players like pj hall.
since you are obviously such a basketball genius, how many ppg do you think he would average if he was used properly?

I think Girard and PJ both need to average at least 15 to 20 points a game for the team to be successful. Schef, Wiggins, and Hunter are good players, but they can’t carry a team offensively.
With essentially no points coming from the bench, it’s imperative for the 2 best scoring threats to combine for at least 40% of the team’s score. If one or both go cold, it’s going to result in long scoring droughts like we are experiencing.

Schef carried the team yesterday. Without his efforts, we woukd have been blown out a lot worse.

Still laughing at this post. If only college basketball was so easy, all you had to do was drive and dish 1/3 of the time.
We average 61 fg attempts per game. You are arguing that joe girard should be shooting at least 18 FG's per game or we are misusing him. 😂😂😂😂😂
Im glad you are not our coach.

Shots by creating as well but his value is beyond the arc. I watched him force about four 3s off the dribble and hardly had any set shots in rhythm/ yes UNC had a game plan to stay in his shirt which that is why it is up to Coach to get him open.
Or we can do like you say and just forget it and disregard Girards value and just let him stay still in the corner, locked up and hope the other 4 figure it out.
Hopefully coach isn’t as satisfied with skating by as you are.

You obviously have never played the game or you would understand that Carolina was on Girard like glue. The only way he was going to get a shot was on fast breaks and we never got any.

No explanation why, but our Tigers couldn’t throw it in the ocean yesterday, it wasn’t coaching it was guys missing shots they have made all year. It wasn’t all UNC defense either. Let’s see what changes are made before the next game.
Bucot(sic) is a tremendous player. One of the best of the best the Heels have had over the years!

There were many set plays to try and get Girard open for 3. UNC did a great job in defending them. There was one at the end of the game where girard weaved through traffic, and multiple picks. It looked like he was going to be open but bacot left his man to guard gurard.
Despite that, Girard had at least 3 wide open looks from 3 and he unfortunately missed them.

They do nothing to get him open. He just stands there behind the 3 point line and hardly moves at all. He was very effective when they ran motion but unfortunately that was at the end of the game when the result was really not in doubt. But I thought Baycot shut down PJ and that was the biggest issue.
