People who are disappointed in a 9-1 season need only look to our rival in Columbia for a wake up call. My oh my! Us Tiger fans have it made at the present. Life is good. Go Tigers!

We started playing football in 1896 and have been blessed to win many games, many Conference Championships and 3 National Championships. Those of us that are lucky enough to have been to games for decades and to have been in Miami when we won the first Championship, like my wife and I were, understand that we are a really good program that we are proud of. To live and die on the results of football games and believing that somehow we are destined to win the Championship year after year is just folly. Yes, 9-1 is a great year so far and there is a huge amount of pride in that.

THAT is in NO WAY a good thing. Some have evidently forgotten what 20+ years of wandering in the wilderness of mediocrity and worse following the Danny Ford years was like. We literally caught lightning in a bottle with Dabo Swinney, and yet now, there is a portion of the fanbase that just wants to armchair coach and complain that we are not beating teams badly enough, instead of celebrating wins that in the past never materialized at all. It is a common problem with programs that get sustained success, it begins to be taken for granted. Someday, we will be wandering in the wilderness again, and then we will wonder why we didn't enjoy the success while we had it again.

It’s not bad compared to most teams.

Many teams would love to be 9-1 right now.
It’s not bad by our standards either.
But when you’re predicted to be a playoff team before the season starts, you struggle with teams you shouldn’t struggle with, you have yet to play a complete game 10 games into the season, your offense has been a huge disappointment, your loss was a blowout loss to an unranked team, and you pay your coach $10 million a year, the season feels disappointing at this point.
Thankfully, we still have an opportunity to finish the year on a high note. We can win the ACC, and if we finish 12-1, we will be in a good spot for the playoffs. If we make the playoffs, a lot of people will feel better about the season.

Only to trolls and idiots.
Dabo makes that $ $ $ $ because he WON FIRST. And engaged supporters with a vision AND A PLAN ! And then got compensated for bringing it to fruition.
Maybe doorknob Brownlee should try that approach ? ? ?

I don't see anybody saying it's a "bad" season.....

we're a "good" team (not great and not elite) struggling offensively (and defensively) against a weak conference.
It's OK for fans to want this program to return to their ELITE level of 2015-2018.

Not a bad year. Why do people always do this? They reduce any criticism at all to either/or. Little nuance, fellas. You can absolutely call this a good year while simultaneously saying losing to an inferior Notre Dame and your offensive passing game not being up to par is a problem. It's not, don't criticize DJ or the offense or you're ungrateful.
There has been issues with this team performing up to the ability that they can. That doesn't mean people are saying we suck.
Last year, we wasted a championship caliber defense because offensively we couldn't get it together. I know people say, well you can't expect to make the playoffs every year and just reload. Yes, yes you can. If you don't, you for sure won't. There's no reason we can't reload and recruit as good as anyone, because we have. There's no reason why you can't expect QB play to be better than 9 TDs and 11 interceptions. This is clemson. Not South Carolina. This isn't Scarneccia out there. It's a former #1 player in the country. If we missed, there should be a dude behind him that better than 9/11. To me, there's almost no excuse for a yearly performance like that. Defense this year has lacked fire and sound tackling. No one on earth is gonna be able to tell me that an average DC couldn't have a top 10 defense with those guys. But it isn't all or nothing. You can be happy about being 9-1, but also recognize that the play against Notre Dame and a few other things haven't been up to par. This constant "everything's just fine" kinda mindset is how programs don't realize they're trending down and find themselves in a different class before they make changes.

Dahamp,
I could not agree more. If Dabo and the coaching staff don't reconize that we are in decline and take some serious actions to remedy that, then 9 & 3 will soon become the standard. You better hope that they (behind the scenes) are aggravated as hello and planning some serious changes in the off season.

I am not disappointed by this season. In fact, the games have been more exciting and enjoyable. And I love how we keep fighting and find a way to win.
However, we have some significant weaknesses and I am aware that against stiffer competition, we might not be able to fight ourselves out from under them.

It's not, but it's not dominant either, trying to get all this talent to gel is a task. We should end the regular season 11-1, then on to the ACC Championship and a good NC program.
