Clemson 2017 wide receiver commit Amari Rodgers had an impressive first quarter against Morristown West on Saturday night as he exploded for two receiving touchdowns with a 60-yarder and 32-yarder and also had a 62-yard punt return touchdown.
Amazingly, Rodgers scored three touchdowns on his first three touches of the game. However, Rodgers injured his shoulder and was in a sling in the second half. "This is actually not the same shoulder," Rodgers said via WBIR.com. "It's the opposite side; it's totally different. I will know for sure what happened yet; I will get x-rayed tomorrow but they said something like an AC joint, but I should be fine." TigerNet spoke with Rodgers on Monday morning and he said that the X-ray was negative and he'll play this week. Rodgers had previously suffered a torn labrum that he injured in April at a seven on seven tournament. Knoxville Catholic won the game 63-30 over Morristown West. Rodgers won the Class 4A Mr. Football Back of the Year as a junior with 2511 all-purpose yards and scored 31 total touchdowns including 1600 receiving yards with 23 receiving touchdowns, two punt returns for touchdowns, two kickoff return touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and an interception return for a touchdown.
