Justin Flowe Update: 5-star linebacker recaps great Clemson visit

The Clemson coaching staff played host to one of the nation’s top prospects for the 2020 recruiting cycle this past weekend, and now he has a better understanding of what Clemson has to offer.

Five-star linebacker Justin Flowe of Upland (CA) is rated as the nation’s top linebacker by 247Sports and the No. 3 player overall. Rivals also lists Flowe as the nation’s top linebacker and the No. 2 player overall. Flowe holds offers from all of the major powers, including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Penn St., Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.

The visit to Clemson’s campus for the All In Cookout was the second for Flowe.

“I had a great time. It is a great family environment,” Flowe told TigerNet. “The visit went really well. I got to see more of the campus this time, and I got to spend more time with the coaches.”

Flowe has developed a strong bond with current Clemson commit Bryan Bresee, a 5-star defensive line prospect out of Damascus (MD), and he said spending time with Bresee was a plus and he could see the two of them playing together one day.

“Those are my guys. It is always good to see them, so it was good to see them again,” Flowe said. “Bryan just let me do me because he knows it's my decision and everything. So he just let me enjoy the visit and everything and have fun.

“The way me and him are together and the way we talk and everything, we would be a great duo together.”

Flowe didn’t meet with Dabo Swinney during his last trip to Clemson but spent time with Clemson’s head coach this past weekend.

“It was great to finally meet him in person. We talked about how Clemson is really a family environment and sets you up as a man going forward,” Flowe said. “I think Coach Swinney is just an all-around great head coach, so it was great to spend time with him. It was good to see him.”

Flowe also spent time with defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Brent Venables.

“I like the defense. They are really aggressive, and they play a blitz-heavy aggressive defense,” he said. “I know Coach Venables would make me a better player. That is really the kind of thing I am looking for.”

Flowe has said in the past that he wanted to take all five of his official visits before rendering a decision, but now says he could make a decision at any time. And yes, Clemson is in the mix.

“When I know the place I want to go and my decision is done, I will commit,” he said. “I will know when is the right time. I am still weighing all of my options for all of my schools, so I will figure it out. Clemson is always going to be high for me. I just have to weigh everything now and see how I feel about everything.”
