Last night, Ray Drew spoke to Atlanta's The Official Visit, a recruiting radio show on 790 the Zone.
Here are some of the highlights from his interview: Drew said that Georgia likes him as an outside linebacker and not a defensive end, his current position and projected position in college. “I believe I play better in a 4-3, with my hand in the dirt.” “They’ve (Georgia) gone to a 3-4 defense and that’s been weighing on me. I’m not too fond of that idea." Drew seemed really impressed with Auburn coaching staff and said, “The coaches really stand out. They care about you as a person.” Drew called Clemson “the most peaceful” and said Dabo Swinney is trying to set up a in-home visit before his decision. Drew did like the possibility of early playing time at Clemson especially as a freshman. Drew also mentioned he could have the opportunity to become team chaplain at LSU while at Miami, Drew said 90% of his dad’s family is from the area. In the end, Drew gave Georgia the edge in education, Clemson the edge in being the “most peaceful”, LSU the edge in football and Auburn the edge in relationships and coaches. See full writeup on interview here According to ESPN's Jamie Newberg, Clemson target Ray Drew has made his mind up on his college choice and has two more in-home visits. UPDATE 10:06 PM: "Just spoke with DE Ray Drew [Thomasville, Ga.]. He said he has made his decision & the world will know Fri - AU, UGA, LSU, CLEM, MIA." UPDATE 11:20 PM: "I found it strange that DE Ray Drew said he only has two in-home visits this week - Dabo Swinney tomorrow and Gene Chizik on Thursday...hmm" He will make his college choice at his GA high school on Friday.
