Derrick Loney is one of best athletes in South Carolina this year. He has been clocked at 4.45 in the forty yard dash. Loney is very explosive off of the line, which is indicated by his 40 inch vertical leap. Loney could play wide receiver or safety at the next level.

"Schools are recruiting me as both. Most schools like me as a safety. It does not really matter to me. I just want an opportunity to play."

Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech are all expressing interest in Loney, but none have offered.

"I am pretty open right now, there is not a timeframe for my decision. South Carolina, Georgia, and Georgia Tech stand out to me right now. Clemson and Virginia Tech continue to send me letters, so I will give everyone a look."

Loney is still being evaluated at this time by the Clemson staff. Loney says he expects to camp at South Carolina and Georgia this summer.
