ESPN GameDay's Desmond Howard: BC star 'definitely' will play Saturday

by -

Preseason ACC player of the year and Boston College running back A.J. Dillon has been hampered with an ankle injury this season, reinjuring it further in a 31-21 win at Virginia Tech last week.

Dillon's health has been a question mark this week and the ACC no longer requires injury reports going into games, but ESPN's College GameDay analyst Desmond Howard said Friday to reporters that Dillon will "definitely play" in the primetime matchup Saturday night (8 p.m./ABC).

BC coach Steve Addazio confirmed on ESPN's College GameDay Saturday that Clemson will see "a full dose of A.J. Dillon" in the game.

Dillon is ranked fourth nationally with 128.1 rushing yards a game, totaling 897 yards and eight scores. He was held out of the 28-23 loss at NC State and also the Louisville game but has rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games.

Clemson limited him to 57 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown last season in Death Valley.

Addazio said at his press conference earlier this week that he saw Dillon "bouncing around with a good smile on his face" but added the situation was still "ongoing." Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday that he expected to see Dillon on the field.

The Tigers are currently a 20-point favorite to clinch the Atlantic Division on Saturday.
