Athletic Department Presents Academic & Athletic Awards at CLEMMYs |
CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Athletic Department held its second annual CLEMMY Awards program at Littlejohn Coliseum on Monday, April 14. Awards were presented for academic and athletic excellence for the past year.
Athletic award winners were nominated by coaches and chosen by a selection committee made up of athletic staff members from various departments. Academic awards were nominated by academic advisors and winners were chosen by the entire Academic Support staff. Below is a list of the award winners and an explanation of each award category. Athletic Director’s Academic Excellence Award This award is presented to graduating senior student-athletes that have been on the honor roll for seven consecutive semesters Natalie Anthony - Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Matt Campbell - Baseball Christy Gasparino - Women’s Track & Field Kelly Gramlich - Women’s Basketball Emily Howard - Diving Yana Koroleva - Women’s Tennis Jaclyn Kovach - Rowing

Chandler CatanzaroChandler Catanzaro Emily Howard - Diving Thomas McNamara - Men’s Soccer Alex Stockinger - Men’s Soccer Academic Team Award Honoring the male and female team spring 2013 and fall 2013 with the highest GPA Men’s Tennis - Spring 2013 Women’s Tennis - Spring 2013 Men’s Cross Country - Fall 2013 Women’s Soccer - Fall 2013 ACC Top Six Award Award presented by the ACC Office to the six student-athletes with the greatest community service participation for the year Kelly Gramlich - Women’s Basketball Emily Howard - Diving Kelsey Igo - Rowing Wesley Nelson - Men’s Soccer Deana Sherry - Women’s Soccer Kathryn Wiley - Rowing Bill D’Andrea Service Award This award is presented to an individual who demonstrates a commitment to academics, devotion to service, and excellence in leadership Paul Clowes - Men’s Soccer Cecil Huey Award This award is presented to a graduating student-athlete that is planning to attend graduate or professional school and throughout his/her Clemson career has demonstrated academic and athletic achievement while adhering to high ethical standards Kelly Gramlich - Women’s Basketball Emily Howard - Diving Unsung Hero Award Presented to a senior support staff member who has gone above and beyond, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to the program Jordan Achterhoff (student athletic trainer recognized for his service to the Clemson football program) Male Rookie of the Year Presented to a rookie who demonstrated outstanding athletic performance during competition Matthew Crownover - Baseball Female Rookie of the Year Presented to a rookie who demonstrated outstanding athletic performance during competition Kailen Sheridan - Women’s Soccer Determined Spirit Award Presented to an individual who showed outstanding perseverance and achieved excellence Jaron Blossomgame - Men’s Basketball Record Breaking Performance Presented to an individual or team who broke school, regional, or national records Brianna Rollins - Women’s Track & Field Competition of the Year Presented to a team with a striking performance which led to an outstanding victory Clemson Football Team vs. Ohio State (Orange Bowl - Jan. 3, 2014 - Miami Gardens, FL) Male Athlete of the Year Presented to a standout individual who demonstrated outstanding athletic performance and has been instrumental to the team’s success K.J. McDaniels - Men’s Basketball Female Athlete of the Year Presented to a standout individual who demonstrated outstanding athletic performance and has been instrumental to the team’s success Brianna Rollins - Women’s Track & Field Best Moment Presented to an individual with a striking performance which led to an outstanding victory
