Former Clemson left-hander Matthew Crownover pitched the first no-hitter in franchise history for the Potomac Nationals Saturday.

The former Tigers standout struck out three batters with only three walks over nine innings in a 7-0 win versus Lynchburg. Crownover improved to 5-8 in the Advanced-A Carolina League this season.

Crownover was selected in the sixth round of the 2015 MLB draft by the Washington Nationals and has advanced as high as Double-A (2017).

The Ringgold, Georgia product was the 2015 ACC pitcher of the year after leading the conference with a 10-1 record and a 1.42 ERA in the regular season.

August 25th, 2018 What a night. Tonight was one of the most incredible nights of my career and life. This year has been filled with many ups and downs. This year has been a learning experience like no other time in my baseball career. Through it all, these experiences have tested my patience and mental fortitude. Tonight was a culmination of a lot of hard work from numerous people in my life. I would like to thank my wife Madison, my sister Kelby and my mom and dad for their constant support and positivity in all circumstances. I would also like to thank the coaching staff and my teammates. Nights like tonight are a culmination of a lot of hard work from numerous people. This is as much a celebration of them as it is me. And most importantly I would like to thank God for allowing me play this game that I love. God is good.
