Mickey,

Look, I get it, Deshaun Watson deserves to be a Heisman winner but it was probably last year not this year. The article by David Hood on the great job that Clemson has done and continues to do in recruiting was a very good story but had maybe one of the worst comments that I have seen on Tigernet. Mr. Hood, in reference to the complete job done by Clemson in recruiting rather than his view that Louisville only has Lamar Jackson said, "then Louisville would be spending the holidays in the playoffs and not in a mediocre bowl in Florida".

The fact is that Louisville is playing in the Citrus Bowl, which is the #7 ranked bowl, only behind the New Years 6 Bowls which include the Playoffs. The payout for the Citrus Bowl is $4.25 million which is much higher that the other bowls and I can tell you from experience that Orlando is not a bad place for a bowl trip. I am not sure how many bowls Mr. Hood has been to but I can tell him that Clemson fans were overjoyed back in 1987 and 88 when Clemson made back to back trips to the Citrus and defeated Penn State and Oklahoma and my family had a great time on those trips. Making a trip to the Citrus Bowl is a great reward for a school and it's fans and while I hope that Clemson continues it's run of either a Playoff or New Year's 6 Bowl, winding up in Orlando for the next best bowl would hardly be considered mediocre.

Andy

Andy,

The playoff has changed everything. Nick Saban talked about this the other day. I still think the Citrus Bowl is a big deal, but many don't. It's almost like the bowls have become the NIT. I hate that but also think more changes are coming to college football's post-season pretty soon.

Mickey,

I don't get it. Even with DW graduating and most likely headed to the pros, Clemson seems to have an embarrassment of riches at QB position with 4 returnees from last season not to mention Johnson and Brice in the 2017 recruiting class. Now a top rated QB commit in the 2018 recruiting class. What gives? Just be happy?

wdc

WDC,

Yeah, an embarrassment of riches is the perfect way to define it. I have never seen this many great quarterbacks in one program. The idea of signing the top passing quarterback in the country two straight years would have never been a consideration but that's what this staff pulled off. Not all will play and not a lot will stay, but Clemson has protected its future by attracting this many stars at QB. I would advise to just sit back and enjoy this unprecedented time.
