CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s basketball team held its annual Orange & Purple scrimmage Friday evening at Littlejohn Coliseum. The event featured four separate 10-minute intrasquad games between mixed and matched teams.

The orange team dominated the opening 10-minute period, winning 19-9 over purple. The orange squad, led by senior forward Trevor Booker, held purple to 4-16 shooting in the opening game (quarter). The orange team actually led 11-0 after a Zavier Anderson layup nearly six minutes into the game. The first purple score of the quarter came on a layup by Tanner Smith with just over four minutes to play.

The second game saw the purple team victorious, 24-21. Smith scored eight of his 19 points in the second game alone. He hit a pair of three-point baskets in the second game for the purple squad. The lead was as high as 24-17 for the purple before Bryan Narcisse and Jonah Baize made baskets inside the final minute.

Purple turned the tables on the orange team in the third game, winning 19-10 over the 10-minute stretch. Trevor Booker, playing for purple during the third game, brought the lead to five after a drive and emphatic one-handed dunk. Milton Jennings followed with a pair of free throws and the purple did not look back.

The final 10-minute game was a high-scoring one, with purple outlasting orange 25-23. Booker, who was a member of each victorious team in the four separate games, was 3-4 with six points in the period. Down by just two, the orange team had multiple chances to tie or win inside the final 30 seconds, but a pair of turnovers thwarted the comeback attempt.

Trevor Booker was the leading scorer on the night with 20 points. The Whitmire, SC native made 10-12 field goals and also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Smith was the second-leading scorer on the night with 19 points. He made 7-12 field goals, playing exclusively for the purple team, including 3-5 from three-point range.

Andre Young had a solid outing, producing 17 points on 6-13 field goals. He had the top three-point figure of the night with four made goals on 10 attempts. Jerai Grant added 15 points on 5-7 field goals and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Jennings tallied 15 points, including 10 in the final game on 4-4 shooting. Devin Booker (13 points, eight rebounds) and Demontez Stitt (11 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers. Stitt added a game-high eight assists and seven steals.

The next action for the men’s team will be an exhibition game against Francis Marion on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free to the public for the exhibition.
