Notes from Swinney’s Weekly Press Conference - Swinney said the team should be healthy as they have been since first game. “Everyone is excited to get back at it and play again especially after a loss.” - At practice the Tigers have spent a lot of time focusing on attention to detail and execution. “If we play like we practice we got a chance to have a much better second half.” - On Wake Forest: “Offensively they are definitely the best offense we have played. Very balanced.” - On Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner: “He is most dangerous when he scrambles and finds an open guy. Riley has really mastered this when you watch his game.” - According to Swinney there is no truth to the rumor about a rift between Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier and Swinney. “I hired Billy to be the offensive coordinator and he has done a great job. I have all the confidence in the world in him. I might have overridden 3 calls in 5 ball games. .. One of the things I like about Billy is he has some fire to him. “ - On the play calling: “We work all week on the game plan. You just don’t call random plays.” - According to Swinney, Dalton Freeman is the offensive lineman that has really been coming on. He would allow the Tigers to have some flexibility on the line. - On the program: “I’m here for the long haul…We are building this program the right way. We are doing the right things. Success is coming our way. We are going to change the culture here one day at a time.” - Swinney said he could think of 3 plays right now and the team would probably be sitting here at 4-1 instead of 2-3. But the team would still have the problems it has right now. Losing magnifies the problems. - Offensive line play: “Far from dominant. But we are better. We are not the same group when Chris Hairston is not in there so we are looking forward to getting him back. - On Kyle Parker running when it is there: “That is one of the things we have challenged him on this week. ..Couple of times where he could have got first down, but he is waiting to make that play.” - On Kyle Parker: “He has made some mistakes, but he is certainly not the reason we are 2-3. He has put us in position to win.” - On the 1 year anniversary of becoming the head coach at Clemson: “I love my job. I love being here. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
