Clemson, SC—Clemson held a short 16-period practice on Thursday afternoon on the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center. The Tigers are preparing for the season opener against Middle Tennessee in just nine days.

Clemson will practice again on Friday afternoon and Saturday evening when it holds the “Beannie Bowl” in Death Valley.

“We had a short, but good practice,” said Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney. “It was good on both sides of the ball because the focus was good. It has made a difference that we have focused on the opponent. We made some mistakes today, but overall, it was a good work day.

“We worked on Middle Tennessee’s tendencies, what they do in third and two, third and long, things of that nature. We are working on Middle Tennessee 100 percent of the time.”

Brandon Ford was in a yellow jersey as he continues to heal from a foot injury. Spencer Benton was out again, but is expected to return to kicking duties on Saturday when the team holds its annual “Beannie Bowl”. Jacoby Ford continues to improve from a hamstring injury and should be ready for the opener. Brandon Clear is back at full strength after a rib injury.

“The Beannie Bowl is a full rehearsal for the first game. We will go through our pregame warm ups, even run down the hill. They we will kick off right at 6:00 PM and practice various special situations.”
