Taylor Back At Practice Wednesday |
Sometimes statistics mean something. Sometimes they mean nothing. Take Rendrick Taylor, for instance. One glance at the junior's receiving numbers, be it this season or for his career, and nothing would leap off the page and scream that he's a game-changer. In fact, the number that would most jump out would be games missed over his time at Clemson due to injury. But apparently that matters little in the grand scheme of things. Because when Rendrick Taylor is on the field, Clemson usually wins. Over his career, the Tigers are 17-4 when Taylor plays. They are 4-7 when he doesn't. So it's easy to see why head coach Tommy Bowden is anxious to get his bulky wideout back in rotation as soon as possible. And that could happen this weekend. Taylor practiced Wednesday and pronounced himself a "50-50 shot" at seeing action Saturday at Maryland. Officially, that translates to questionable. For Bowden, it's hopeful. "I think we'll be pretty close," he said after Wednesday's workout. "He converted some awfully big third downs against N.C. State. You get to third and four, third and five, he's an awfully big body going foward with some momentum. He adds a little punch to us on third and medium with those third down catches." Despite the on-again, off-again rain the Tigers were not limited to working out on just the field turf at the Jervey practice facility. The natural grass surfaces on the other fields have held up well so far. There were no new injuries reported Wednesday.
