Swinney Named #5 Recruiter in the Nation by Rivals.com |
One year after being named one of the nation's top-25 recruiters by Rivals.com, Clemson wide receivers coach Dabo Swinney has been named the #5 recruiter in nation by the same publication in 2006. Swinney has given Clemson a recruiting presence in Alabama, and he also helped sign two of Florida's top prospects this year in C.J. Spiller, a five-star rated running back out of Lake Butler, and four-star rated defensive back DeAndre McDaniel from Tallahassee.
The 2006 season will be Swinney's fourth at Clemson. He has helped the Tigers to seven top-25 wins, including three over top-10 teams, two bowl victories, and two top-25 finishes in his first three seasons at Clemson. Swinney's recruiting efforts have also helped the Tigers to secure consecutive consensus top-25 recruiting classes, including the 2006 class that is ranked in the top-15 in the nation by several services. Rivals.com describes Swinney as "a fast-rising star in the recruiting world and the coaching world, Swinney landed the top player in Florida, C.J. Spiller, which should be enough to put him on this list. He also snagged 4-star DeAndre McDaniel." Swinney rounded out the Rivals.com top-five recruiters, which included Larry Johnson of Penn State at the top spot, followed by Rob Ianello of Notre Dame, Todd McNair of Southern Cal, and Rodney Garner of Georgia.
