There are 120 teams in major-college football. Three of them—Army, Navy and Notre Dame—have been independent for all or nearly all of their existence. Of the remaining 117, 82—or 70%—have won at least a share of a conference title since the end of the 1991 season, when Clemson last won the Atlantic Coast Conference.
