Miami's leading tackler out for season

by - Assoc. Editor -

Miami senior linebacker Raphael Kirby will miss the Clemson game and the rest of the season with a right knee injury according to school officials.

Kirby injured the right knee during Miami's 30-20 win over Virginia Tech and Hurricanes coach Al Golden said that "Kirby's commitment to our team and our goals has been unquestioned over his career, and he will be sorely missed."

He is a team captain that leads the Hurricanes in tackles (44) and had started 19 straight games. Before the season, he was nominated as a preseason candidate for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation's top linebacker.

Miami (4-2, 1-1) will play Clemson (6-0, 3-0) on Saturday at noon in Miami, Florida.
