Latest NCAA projections for Clemson Baseball

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson has been included in both of the latest projections on Wednesday for the NCAA baseball tournament field of 64 teams.

The Tigers in the projections were sent to the Columbia (S.C.) Regional as a #2 seed with South Carolina (#1 seed), UNC Wilmington (#3 seed) and Virginia Commonwealth (#4 seed) according to D1 Baseball.

Clemson was dropped as a regional host but are still right in the mix with a healthy winning streak. The ACC has eight schools in the NCAA projection which is second only to the SEC (9 schools). Duke and Wake Forest were two of the last five schools considered in the field.

Tulane, Notre Dame, Maryland, Stanford, and Washington were the last five teams in the field.

Baseball America has Clemson in the Gainesville Regional as a two-seed with the No. 1 overall seed Florida, Tulane (#3 seed) and Binghamton (#4 seed) according to projections by Baseball America.

"Clemson, amazingly, right now would be the last team in the ACC tourney field, with its 8-10 record. As crowded as the ACC bubble picture could get, it’s tough to see anyone getting an at-large that can’t make the grade to get into the league’s own tournament," Baseball America said.

The first four out were Stanford, Notre Dame, Gonzaga and Fresno State.
