ESPN personality picks Clemson over Alabama

by - Assoc. Editor -

Radio personality Mike Greenberg from ESPN's Mike and Mike show on Monday morning picked Clemson to beat Alabama for the National Championship.

"I'm calling for the upset," Greenberg said on the show. "I watched a Clemson team on Saturday night absolutely humiliate Ohio State and it felt to me like almost immediately the storyline and the narrative on social media was that Ohio State wasn't that good. Well Penn State should have been there instead of Ohio State. NONSENSE. I watched them [OSU] play all year long. Ohio State is a good team. Maybe they aren't the greatest team of all-time but they were a good team. Nobody should have been able to do that to them. Clemson was that good that night. They played great. They do everything well."

Greenberg is not as impressed with Alabama as most national media pundits this college football season.

"In my opinion, Alabama, you watch every week and they are so vulnerable," Greenberg said. "I mean their defense is so good but the rest of their team is so average. I believe Clemson is the team that can do it. I am calling for the upset. I like Clemson to beat Alabama in that game on Monday night."

Clemson will play Alabama for the College Football National Championship at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Monday, January 9, 8 pm ET on ESPN.

This will be the first time that two teams will have a rematch of the previous National Championship game and Clemson is currently a 6.5 point underdog against Alabama as of Monday morning.
