Twitter reacts to Clemson's latest Playoff ranking |
We’re into week two of the College Football Playoff rankings and starting to see the hot takes – just in time for Twitter to go to 280 characters.
Outside of the Oklahoma and Ohio State fanbases, there were few complaints with Clemson’s No. 4 ranking nationwide last week. But then the No. 5 Sooners went on the road to beat now-No. 15 Oklahoma State, Miami moved up three spots in this week’s CFP poll by rolling over previous-No. 13 Virginia Tech and Wisconsin stayed unbeaten with a road victory at Indiana. The Clemson CFP counter-argument remains that one pesky loss to Syracuse: Oklahoma should be above Clemson. Winning at Ohio State and at OK state. Best offense in college football and the best player. Don't get Clemson ahead of Oklahoma. Tigers have egregious loss. Sooners have road wins against highly ranked teams. The D? #CFBPlayoff What’s the argument for Clemson over OU at this point? UM at seventh in CFP rankings, behind Clemson team that lost to a five loss team and two teams that lost to a three loss team. What a joke. You just can’t convince me that Clemson’s 1 loss is better than the other 1 loss teams. With or without a quarterback. And Miami doesn't miss Mark Walton and Wisconsin isn't all banged up? Clemson doesn't catch any break in final rankings for that one loss vs. Syracuse Relax, Miami and Wisconsin fans. Win out, and you're in. No way, no how, no chance an unbeaten Power Five conference champion doesn't get into the College Football Playoff. In the 20 years of the BCS and College Football Playoff, no undefeated Power 5 conference champ has ever been left out of a national title game or playoff for 1-loss team. NO WAY a 2-loss Auburn gets in over unbeaten Miami or Wisconsin - who probably won't run the table, anyway. If Wisconsin wins out, it's in. Stop with this nonsense. An undefeated Power Five champion will be in somewhere. So now I’m comparing two 8-1 teams. Both have two quality wins. But Clemson’s loss is worse than Oklahoma’s. So that’s how I go there. But can make cases for both so I have zero issue with Clemson/OU 4-5. https://t.co/HN6Eap6aKM Going to be hard to rank Clemson over Oklahoma next week if the Sooners beat TCU and Auburn loses to Georgia at home for their third loss this season. Should be another shakeup come next Tuesday.#CFBPlayoff If Oklahoma can keep their run going with a home win over No. 6 TCU Saturday, the debate will only heat up, as they can notch a third top-25 victory overall and a fourth win over a team currently-ranked. Clemson owns a nation-best 6-0 record versus winning FBS teams with a 4-0 record versus teams that were ranked in the AP Poll top-20, also joining Notre Dame as the only teams with three wins over CFP top-25 teams. Three of those ranked victories have come on the road, which only the Tigers can claim and is a first at Clemson since 1950. A look at the road to Charlotte's ACC Championship Game and a potential date with Miami: No. 4 Clemson is 1 of 3 teams ranked in all 21 committee releases since 2014. …and for the extra point: Herbstreet thinks Clemson is the best team in the country. The Doeren bitter meter just went up a notch
