ESPN College GameDay crew predicts Clemson-Alabama

by - Staff Writer -

ESPN’s College GameDay crew weighed in with its picks for the Playoff matchups Monday night.

The Rose Bowl is set for a 5 p.m. start on ESPN between No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 3 Georgia. No. 1 Clemson’s third-straight matchup with No. 4 Alabama in the Playoff is slated to kick off at 8:50 on ESPN.

In the Sugar Bowl matchup they picked...

Desmond Howard picked CLEMSON: This is a tough one, but I think when you look at Clemson's defensive front, I don't think Alabama is going to have the success running the ball that they expect. Because of Clemson's defensive front, another great matchup and instant classic, but I'm going with the Clemson Tigers.

Lee Corso picked ALABAMA: Alabama wins the turnover battle. It's big in this ballgame.

Kirk Herbstreit picked CLEMSON: Turnover battle and short field, two great defenses, I see a very low-scoring game, but I'm going to give the edge to Clemson and Kelly Bryant and Hunter Renfrow and those receivers - I think they make enough plays through the air to give them a narrow victory over the Crimson Tide.
