Could Braden Galloway be the next Jordan Leggett? |
The next Jordan Leggett may very well be in Clemson’s backyard.
Seneca’s Braden Galloway spent several hours on Clemson’s campus Tuesday afternoon and left with an offer to join the Tigers 2018 recruiting class. At 6-6, 220 pounds, Galloway fits the mold of the tall, athletic prototypical Clemson tight end – Jordan Leggett, if you will. “Coach Dabo actually compared me to Jordan Leggett and I actually got to talk to Jordan Leggett today,” Galloway said of his conversations with Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. “He compared me a lot to him but said I was a little bit bigger and taller than he was when he was a junior in high school. Watching Jordan Leggett play and then being compared to him is an honor.” Not only does Galloway have the size to be a good fit in Clemson’s offense, he also has all of the necessary tools. “I'm very aggressive off the line. I like the deep balls,” Galloway said. “I like jump balls. I also like blocking more than your normal receiver or tight end does just because I like being physical. I like taking what I've done all of my life in basketball and being able to put it on the football field.” Galloway told TigerNet Tuesday night he had no expectations of receiving an offer on his visit. “I first got there around 1:00 or 1:30 and I talked with Coach (Danny) Pearman and visited the new facilities and all of that,” he said. “I talked to Coach Pearman for about 30 minutes. We talked about grades and family and things like that. He asked about how many years I've been playing football. I got to sit in on a team meeting that lasted about 45 minutes. “Then, Dabo called me into his office and he was asking me questions about life and telling me about my upside and that he likes the potential that I have. We watched them practice and Coach Swinney was talking to Coach Pearman during practice and afterward they offered me. It's a great feeling. It's surreal because you think it's possible but you can't even dream of it happening and the fact that it actually happened is just crazy.” Galloway came away impressed with both Swinney and Pearman. “Today was my first time talking to them and meeting them face-to-face,” he said. “They're both very down to earth and they're both people persons. They know how to talk to people. It felt like I was talking to a normal person rather than to a college coach.” Clemson joins N.C. State on Galloway’s official offer list. “As of right now, they're at the top. It's them and N.C. State. Those are both of my offers right now. They're at the top because they believe in me and they see what I see in myself. They see more. They're definitely at the top.” However, before Galloway makes a decision, he’s anxious to see what the rest of the spring and summer may hold. “I think I'm going to Wofford on 22nd of April. I'm taking a trip there just to see what it's like. I think it's a junior day,” he said. “I'm not rushing a decision anytime soon. I'm just going to see how the spring and the summer goes. It will be highly likely that it will be before football season. I'm just not sure yet.”
