For Clemson Moore is Better

CLEMSON -- Who is the most exciting dunker in Clemson basketball history? Derrick Forrest, Devin Gray, Larry Nance, Olu Babalola, or Cheyenne Moore.

Cheyenne Moore?

Small forward Cheyenne Moore is a 6'6, 190 pound signee for 2004 Clemson basketball class from South Kent Prep in South Kent, CT. Much like Cheyenne, Wyoming, the city he shares his name with, Moore has great elevation. He is a highlight reel dunker with a 7'1 wing span.

"He(Cheyenne) makes dunks in games that you wouldn't believe. Against Fork Union(Academy) he had two dunks that had the crowd leaving the gym," said Raphael Chillious, South Kent's coach.

Cheyenne finished this season with averages of 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for a South Kent team that has three other D1 college basketball signees. According to his coach, Moore is an above average to good shooter who hit 37 percent of his three point attempts and 78 percent of his free throws.

"Cheyenne has an all around game, he is a good passer and able to defend at all three perimeter positions. His upside is unlimited.....an NBA level athlete."

Moore was born in North Dakota, but his family has lived in Las Vegas, Connecticut, and currently resides in Maryland. As a junior, Moore played for the aforementioned Raphael Chillious at West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md where he averaged 22.6 ppg and his teammate was current Connecticut starter Josh Boone.

Moore is the highest rated member of Clemson's four man recruiting class that includes 6'5 Sam Perry from Woodmont High in SC, 6'3 Cliff Hammonds from Cairo High in Ga, and 6'9 James Mays from Garner High in NC. He is also regarded as the 7th best shooting guard in the country by Athlon's College Basketball magazine.

Moore originally committed to Georgetown University as a rising junior, but decommitted and signed with Clemson over Georgia Tech, Depaul, Boston College, Virginia, and others.

Cheyenne Moore's accolades:

All-Tournament Slam Dunk on the Beach

All-Tournament at the St. Thomas Moore Classic

2003 Las Vegas Big Time All-Tournament team
