Clemson, SC -

Clemson Head Baseball Coach Jack Leggett announced the addition of junior righthander Steve Richard (pronounced rih-SHAHRD) to the team Wednesday. The transfer from Maine led the Black Bears in ERA (2.07) and tied for the team lead in victories (9) as a sophomore in 2005. In 100.0 innings pitched (15 starts and one relief appearance), he allowed 88 hits, 44 walks, and just one home run with 90 strikeouts and a 9-1 record. As a freshman in 2004, he was 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA in 70.0 innings pitched (11 starts and four relief appearances). Richard, a 6'3", 220-pounder from Billerica, MA, will be eligible to pitch for the Tigers in 2006 due to NCAA transfer rules.
