Rated the #14 player in North Carolina according to Borderwars.com… SuperPrep All-Mid Atlantic team and #18 prospect in the state… 66th-best wide receiver in the nation according to Rivals.com… All-Conference, All-Area, and Charlotte Observer All-Piedmont in 2002… played for Coach Tim McMahon… chose Clemson over North Carolina and Wake Forest
More on Jefferson: Jefferson caught 54 passes for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. As a senior he had 40 catches for 750 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jefferson also had offers from Virginia, Colorado, Boston College, Maryland, Duke, Vanderbilt and Kansas. Recruited by Mike O’Cain.
Quoting Jefferson: “Clemson was the first college game I had seen in my life. I was the first campus I had been to. I was kind of a lean to them from the beginning. They kind of caught my heart. Then I went on the visit and started actually hanging out with the players, getting more in depth with the coaches and it showed what it would be like there for the next four or five years. I just felt like that was the place for me. I probably will end up getting redshirted. That’s what I hope to do. But you know if I go out and play real good then I might play my freshman year and that’s good too.”
