I always pulled for him and his grandad is my favorite sports person ever. I followed him at an NCAA event and talked to his mom and dad a bit. They are class acts.
His grandfather autographed 2 pics for me I took of him at the Masters. I sent them in the mail and he did this while he was dealing with prostate cancer. I will never ever have a bigger hero in sports than Arnold and I always admired sam for his dogged determination.

$4.3M in career earnings. May sounds great on the surface, but for 12 years and after you take out caddy and travel costs, it is less so. PGA really is a grind for anyone outside the top 150 in the world.

His career would be amazing for most anyone but being the grandson of one of the greatest golfers of all time will give you some extremely high expectations.

It sounds like he has a lot of memories from his professional golf career, and even if you take half of his career earnings away for expenses and taxes, that still leaves about $150k per year … I think most people would gladly take that income over a 12 year period.
No doubt his goals were much higher, and the travel can get old… especially with a family, but he spent 12 years playing the sport he loved professionally.
I would love to had continued my sports career after Clemson professionally playing the sport I love for 12 years!! ⚽️

Sam is a fine young man and he represented his family and particularly his grandfather with class and dignity. Arnold would not have expected anything less.

I had the honor of watching Sam play his final 9 holes at Metedeconk National on the Korn Ferry tour this past week.
