Plantar fascia is painful and slow healing. Recommended treatment is mainly staying off of it. Maybe they can pad it and tape it in a way that supports it enough that he can give it a go, but I would be surprised if he plays at all.

I had exact injury and could hardly walk for weeks. He’s in much better shape than I ever was, but I was a D1 athlete and I’ll never forget that pain.
