Well, some get them when they outperform their walk on status. Aka Hunter Renfrow etc. they also will allocate any situation where a scholarship is unused. Walk on scholarships are generally only given year by year.

Well as Dabo said, he has never had to take a Sc scholarship back, but all walk-on's were told in advance that the scholarships were year to year, and there was a chance that the scholarship could be withdrawn, that's fair enough even when you hate it....

depth pieces so our 4th string RB and Long Snapper can get scholarships. Doesn't seem like a good trade off to me. If we were actually going to use the free scholarships in productive ways that would be one thing, but Dabo won't.

Wow, one of the three walk-ons is going to get back his scholarship. I'd rather have Greene on this team, then be giving a scholarship to a walk-on, but hey that just me and I like to win!

I don’t see anyone who said it’s good. I certainly didn’t. I am just stating facts - Helms’ scholarship is now no longer at risk. And two move “events” need to happen to get to 85. Whether that’s attrition or removal remains to be seen.

we were going to have 88 players on this team that Dabo deemed scholarship worthy, and now we'll have 87. No long snapper deserves a full scholarship, it's as simple as that. I seriously doubt many other title contenders have long snappers on scholarship. I'd rather have the depth than be all smiles like some of you that some walk-on is now getting his scholarship back. If they wanted to go out and use that scholarship to get a WR that would be one thing, but this is just another attrition to the roste rwith no back-filling.

I suspect that coming out of Spring practice it was made clear to the player that he wasn't going to meaningful time on the playing field. He was a 4-star recruit and presumably believes he can take it to the next level. But that isn't going to happen without playing time.

No offense but I could care less if the walk ons still have their scholarships. I want talented players that can contribute meaningful snaps to be on our roster.
Yes, I know Helms deserves one. I’m happy he’s got one and happy he’ll stay on one but these roster “issues” are self imposed.

Really unfortunate. Nate and Sheridan will start. Hopefully Toriano and Lukus take that next step in their development. I like those 4, but we have zero experience behind them. Shelton Lewis did impress me in the spring game though.

If you're not getting the starts or playing time than the guy playing in front of you, work twice as hard as he does, and you would probably be shocked at what working even harder could do for your talent improving to another level. As someone else said, this is the process working. Dabo conducts interviews with each player at the end of spring practice. If the player doesn’t like where he sits in the depth chart or anything else about the evaluation, this is his time to decide to make a change.
I had high hopes for Greene but, for whatever reason, he hasn’t worked out so far. It also seems he has been kind of in the love shack ever since being involved in the Fred Davis accident that severely injured the postal worker.
