According to Cade, it sounds like DJU understood defenses and offenses and was a good teacher, maybe he has found his niche!!
Some people can understand and can get all the book sense but cant apply it in real life instances. Maybe this was DJ's deal !! lol wish him luck where ever he ends up!!

DJ was just too mechanical in going through his progressions

By the time he got through them, it was to late to execute the play. TL or DW would take 1.5-2.0 seconds to go through the checkdowns... DJ took 1.5-2.0 seconds PER CHECKDOWN...

I think this picture says a thousand words. DJ doesn’t have on the “Champs” shirt: however, he is humble and in a positive note, hopefully giving Cade the glory for the win or DJ is just done. We never know where someone is in their life….speaking of DJ. The only negative comment I will say is this: Dabo stuck by DJ’s side during tons of criticism and when it is time for DJ to stick around for the bowl game, he splits. Cade has QB backup, but in my opinion, after the effort Dabo did for DJ and Cade declaring how DJ helped him on the sidelines, DJ should have stuck around. But God only knows the truth of the matter and this could just be all media hype.

DJ can’t stick around for the bowl game. There are rules about that. He wanted to but according to transfer portal rules, he cannot.

Technically yes he could have stayed but finding out week 14 ur benched gave him very little time to find another school and practice for the bowl game. There was an interview with Dabo where he says no matter what DJ wasn't gonna be at Clemson in '23 and that was clear all season. I don't blame DJ leaving at this point bc he was never gonna be under center again at Clemson. Go Tigers!!!

I’m not saying DJ should play in the game. He’s not QB1…Cade is. I’m just trying to say that Cade said DJ helped him from the sidelines. And no, I don’t know the portal rules….seems like the “rules” change everyday.

If you think DJ leaving was not already well coordinated and had Dabo's fingerprints all over it then you really don't understand the dynamic that played out all season. Dabo even hinted early on that DJ was graduating in December and he and DJ already had a plan for DJ's future.
I think we can stop all of the abandonment nonsense. It simply was never the case.

Bet on this: At the end of his disappointing and heavily criticized season in 2021, DJ wanted to quit football because, increasingly, his heart wasn’t in it, and he knew he did not have the confidence to quarterback an elite team. He wanted to focus on baseball. But Dabo talked him out of quitting because Dabo believes that the act of quitting will follow a person his entire life. Plus, Dabo and Streeter were not sure if Cade—who had just finished playing at the high school level—was ready to be the season-opening starter at the elite college level if DJ quit. So to get DJ to come back for one more season, Dabo pledged to him (and Big Dave) that he would stick by him all the way no matter what. That explains the mystery of why Dabo stuck with him so long this season, while trying Cade out as little as possible. Cade’s MVP performance against UNC finally ended Dabo’s costly commitment to DJ. There is no other way to explain this. And by the way, Brock Purdy, last pick in the NFL draft, who quarterbacked Iowa State against Clemson in the Cheez-it bowl—and put up better stats than DJ—is now leading the 49ers into the playoffs.

DJ should not stick around. Once the page is turned, it's time for everyone to move on.
DJ's mind is on finding a new destination for next year. Clemson's mind is on the Orange Bowl and next year with Cade as their leader. There is no intersection between the two. They don't need his moral support and should put him in the rear-view mirror immediately (with no hard feelings).
I felt the same way when KB left the team after Trevor was named the starter. There was no use in him hanging around and (likely) being a distraction. Him leaving forced everyone to focus solely on Trevor and the results speak for themselves.

Last draft pick Brock Purdy, mentioned in my earlier post, is not only leading the 49ers to the playoffs, he is doing it with a confidence, a decisiveness, a fearlessness, that we never saw in DJ for TWO YEARS. Not once. But like most of you, I wish DJ the best in life. He is clearly a fine young man.

Because of the Portal rules, he couldn’t stick around. DJ wanted to stay on the team through the OB, but the rules won’t allow it. Another asinine rule…. Dabo has mentioned this in interviews a couple of times. You can dislike DJ because of his production issues on the field, but the kid is a total class act!

By that logic...Cade isn't wearing the black ACC Champs hat, but DJ is. So what are the thousand words of the picture saying about that?
Each of the QBs are wearing ACC Champs apparel. One is a shirt, another is a hat.

D.J. must have had some kind of spell on not only Dabo, but also most of the team. I never met him and seems like a good down to earth person. I don’t have anything against him. But I will stay forever confused with the QB situation decisions for this past year...and most of last year. We are winning 10 or more games a year.. I just assume that is Dabo’s new standard now that he is making $10M a year. So, he has told us he can do anything he wants to and we the fans can like or or not. What a crappy attitude. Merry Christmas!

I was at a practice before ND and DJ looked like a player I'd never seen play before. He was a perfect 17-17 passing and looked all world. My guess is this happened often and they were waiting for the moment it all came together on gameday. There has never been a question of his physical ability to play QB but unfortunately he hasn't attained the mental capacity to play on gameday to this point. I wish him well and I'm sure Dabo learned something these past 2 seasons. Little better qb play we could have made the playoffs this season easily and beat NCST & GA last season imo. Moving forward GO Tigers!!!!, beat those peach colored hillbillies!!!
