This is an amazing catch for Coach BB

Players of this caliber never give the Tigers a second look. Hopefully he will be even better than the St Patrick guard for the Celtics. Big city guards= success.

Definitely a welcome surprise. We've learned not to count our tiger cubs before they're born when it comes to basketball recruits of this caliber.

his entire life in and around cities to wake up and find himself in Clemson, SC. But like so many before him, before he leaves, he'll have fallen in love with the "rural-ness" and the mountains and lakes.
Hope he winds up a major contributor to the basketball team.....Brad Brownell deserves to have a recruit grow into a big-time NBA prospect......meanwhile, Ol' Roy Williams remains dumbfounded how Clemson EVER signs a recruit without the baksheesh

Huge get for Brownell & Co.!

Top 100, 4 star PGs from the NYC area don't usually come to Clemson. It would be great to open up that pipeline, a la Georgia Tech in the 80s and 90s under Cremins.

great pick up. like this better than Josiah James. already PG ready and St Patrick's In Elizabeth New Jersey. great program that has good competerion unlike James small prep school. they have sent quality guards to NBA like Kyrie Irving. really blew up this summer for New Jersey Playaz. was third team EYBI AAU circut. i think Coach Antino Reynolds Dean is out best recruter now. was the lead recruiter here along with commit Chase Hunter for this class.

exactly what you want in a PG. Now get a quality big and you have a great class. And I still think we have a good shot at Brown

my understanding they don't take a "big" in this class unless a really top kid just falls in our lap. got the transfer from UNC-a sitting out. Jemerson may RS due to a foot/leg injury he's nursing.also a possibility malik williams RS due to injury/health concerns.

I think red-shirting Malik would be a smart move

He's probably 6 deep on the depth chart at 4-5 behind Thomas, Simms, White, Skara and Jemison. That would have them at 5 bigs for next year. We have 4 scholarships available. I think Brown is number 1 our list. They may leave a scholarship available for a transfer next season.

They won't redshirt both William and Jemison

though. Need 5 guys for depth. That is, unless both are down for the year injury wise which I've seen nowhere

staff doesn't always "publicize" injuries. both have situations that COULD lead to a RS. agree, we'd prob rather not RS both ,esp with Behre sitting out. but saying it could happen.

to be a student at CU and watch Skip Wise. Not comparing this kid to him, but looking forward to another inner city, smart, tough street baller to add a new dynamic to and continue to elevate our program.

Couldn’t agree more. A definate move in the right direction. I have said many times that basketball is a city playground game. Wonder if they project any growth from him? He’s probably 16 or 17.

I had a class with Skip Wise. On the rare occasion he showed up, he slept through it. He was a great talent. Came in at the same time Phil Ford came to UNC, and surpassed Ford for freshman honors. (First team all-ACC!) But money called, and he was off to the ABA after one year. His team, the Baltimore Claws, never played a regular season game. Drugs kept him from making a team, and a couple years later, he was in jail. A sad story.

Agreed, a waste of talent and a life, but he sure gave the ACC teams he## for one glorious year.

He was amazing , we played great at home that year. If my shaky memory is right, we beat all the big boys at home. So glad to hear he got his life together.

He plays for a private school in suburban New Jersey.

But I hear what you’re saying. He definitely plays tough and seems fearless. He will be a great fit for our program.

Private school up there is far different than

the one's down here. Far more intense competition. That's not a knock on James. But we've signed 2, blue chip kids from SCISA schools, and both fell far short of expectations. Bynum and Jennings

Agreed about competition, but I wasn't referring to that.

I was responding to the post referring to him as an "inner city street baller." Thus, it was important to point out that he is from suburban NJ, not Harlem.
I absolutely agree about private school basketball competition in NJ being much better than private school competition in SC. I actually like Dawes's game just as much as Josiah James's, and think Dawes will be a great fit for us.

Since the reporter had just quoted him speaking in first-person, I think that the quotation you're referring to is second-person with a missing attribution. Maybe it was his coach or a scout speaking about him. If he can play and will represent Clemson well, he can speak in sixth-person for all I care.
