OK, I debated whether or not to post this...

Oct 22, 2007, 9:12 PM

But I'm just gonna do it. As some of you know, my sister and I performed at Bill's Pickin' Parlor here in Columbia Friday night. There was video taken, and I have put them on YouTube. It is against my nature, since I am generally a pretty timid guy. Please know that this was my first time performing at a secular establishment such as Bill's, and that combined with my introverted personality made me very nervous. And you can tell, especially on the second song.

Anyways, enough talking...I hope you enjoy. I just hope you're not as hard on me as I am on myself. ;)

The first, "Daddy's Hands", a country song recorded by Holly Dunn:

And the second, a hymn, "I'll Trade the Old Cross for a Crown" (sorry about my voice!):

I had planned to go on Friday night, but got home sick and could not make it.

I have never been to Bill's, and would only have been enticed by you, Bravo.

Keep pickin, young man!

"(sorry about my voice!)"

Psalm 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

I didn't read anything in there saying, "but only if you can carry a tune" :). I thought you sounded great.

don't know why you apologized for your voice. Very nice...

Never make an apology before the performance. Makes the audience uncomfortable. ;)

Again, enjoyed it.

I am not a musical or artistic performer, but I was taught

Oct 23, 2007, 7:53 AM

the same lesson many years ago as I learned how to polish the art of public speaking.

While a bit of self-deprecating humor or a light passage or two will warm the crowd to one's presence and presentation, one should not make apologies in advance for the reasons you so aptly presented.

Many times, we don't have to remind people of our shortcomings! However, I do try to learn something new or improve my delivery each time I speak and I have been at it for a long time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True. True.
