Interesting numbers re: Clemson vs Carolina

Jul 3, 2004, 10:42 AM

I was looking at the numbers this morning and I realized this:

When Clemson wins their 6th game this year, it will be our 600th win (we start the season 594-408-45 (0.589) all-time).

If USC loses just 2 games (assuming no bowl game), they can't break even this year all-time (they start the season 494-502-44 (0.496)).

Also notice that we've played only 7 more games than USC has played all-time, yet we've won exactly 100 more games than they have. They have a very long time to catch up.

So which will happen first? Clemson reach 600 wins or Carolina reach 500 wins? It's an even race...we each need just 6 wins. I say the Tigers make it first!

Go Tigers!

for the coots to reach within 1 win of evening the series:

(please consider the fact that the last time they even won back to back games was 1969-70 when they actually won 3 in a row. But since have not managed even 2 consecutive wins)

if the coots were to win 5 of every 6 (83% of the time), it'd still take them 36 years to get within 1 win

if the coots were to start winning 3 of every 4 (75% of the time) games in the series, it'd take them 48 years to get within 1 win

if the coots were to win 2 of every 3 (67% of the time), it'd take them 72 years to get within 1 win

so in other words, the coots will NEVER even the series.

To further stress the domination, consider the fact that the game was NEVER played in Clemson before 1960. Also, there are a tie and a clemson loss that could both be Clemson wins, but we chose not to accept the forfeits for their cheating.
So, the real record should be 63-35-3, but we gave them a few handouts.

Clemson wins like usual!***
