My Rev Dodd story
May 28, 2018, 10:10 PM

|
I live in Charleston and being a home builder one of my clients selected a specific tile at Lowes Home Improvement. I bought all of that tile in the Charleston area and was still a few hundred square feet short of what I needed. I asked the Lowes tile department if they had this certain tile at any other Lowes. They said they did in Fayetteville, NC. Through tigernet I knew the Rev lived in Fayetteville but I did not know him and never met him, I only knew him as a poster in here. I sent the Rev a tmail and told him my situation about needing tile. Without me asking he volunteered to buy the tile I needed and ship it to me all on his dime. I thanked him for his kind offer and took him up on it. He shipped it to my home. In the meantime I mailed him a check for his expenses plus $50 for his time. The tile arrived at my home a few days later.
While the Rev is best known in here for his wit and his literary gab I know him best for being a genuine good person who went well beyond what anyone would do for a fellow man (in this case a stranger). I do not know the Rev's religious convictions but to me he displayed all the qualities of what a Christian stands for. Rev I am pulling for you to conquer whatever challenges you are facing. Much love and many prayers being sent your way!

I’m late to the party & unaware of what is going on with him. But the seriousness of the situation comes through with this post & I hope that whatever issues have occurred he is able to fight them back & fully recover.

There are good people every where that we don't know or hear about, and it's bc the people that they are there for, don't share them in the same avenues like we do here on T-Net. Like you, I only know of the Rev from here, and I'm not at all surprised by what he was able to do for you, and I would bet that it wasn't his first time of reaching out and helping others that has crossed his path in life. Prayers galore are going out for the Reverent Dodd. I personally know about the powers of the prayers coming from the T-Net members, and I believe that God heard them all when I was in need for prayers to be heard and answered, Amen!!!

He is one of the greatest men I have ever known. Your story is just one example of his character and his desire to help people. He truly needs no introduction because he is a Clemson man. I am praying hard for him. Beat this thing!

I miss Rev’s unreal fiery pre-game sermons..

which reminded me a little of Preacher Gator Farr in the 50’s who came to Clemson’s Friday night pre-game pep rallies held at Amphitheatre near library..in his long-tail black tux coat & high Lincoln-like hat.
Thx Rev Dodd for being our cheerleader and bright wishes to you!

AWESOME story. Aside from some riff raff on here, I venture there are many good Clemson men on this site. I have personally met a few that I "met" on here and even "ran into" an old good friend of my father. My prayers are with the Rev. God Bless!!!!

POTY is my opinion. Do not know Rev Dodd except reading his "Tiger sermons" here. Prayers and thoughts for whatever challenge he is facing. Tell him he is missed greatly on this site.

I have know Rev Dodd since we were both kids. We lived bocks from eachother in Mt. Pleasant and are both 1974 Wando grads (as well as Clemson thereafter). I can assure you his wit, while always a bit off the wall, was well know and appreciated even back then.
I don't know his prognosis, but his spirits seem good judging by his frequent and humrous FB posts regarding the care he is getting. I am quite certain all of the the Clemson Family prayers are helpful, appreciated, and heard.
Great post!

He is definitely a fine, fine person. He, alone, almost made it feel like a Clemson home game. Prayers for Rev Dodd.
