The two highest ranked teams not in a CCG should play each other

Nov 27, 2019, 11:31 PM

If Alabama again backs their way into the playoff while they sit at home, it will be another disgrace.

The two highest ranked teams not in their CCG should play on a neutral field pre established before the season. No way should a team sit at home and move up, while other teams compete for championships.

Because B1G Champion Ohio State had two losses. If Utah or Oklahoma finish 12-1 one of them will get the 4th spot over BAMA. The only reason you hear all the talk of BAMA in the playoffs is to create controversy, and that is by design. The playoffs were designed to create debate and controversy to generate interest in college football and increase revenue.

extra game they would have won. Wisc had to play and lost. Bama got a bye, they did not have to play. It is a problem. ND got a bye last year as well.

Bama might get a bye again, which includes an extra week of preparation and rest. That's the advantage of getting a bye.

Clemson is the only team that's had to play a team that had a bye and it's happened to us all 4 years. Kind of an odd coincidence, if it is a coincidence.

I like it

A wildcard game! No need to expand playoffs. Then it could be required that the CFP teams be chosen from those 6 - the power 5 champs and wildcard winner.

I agree if they are going to compare them as a 1 loss team. An alternative would be to compare them to other teams as if they lost their conference championship, which essentially they did by forfeiting a chance to play in it. It certainly isn't fair to say that they have 1 less loss when they avoid playing a quality team.

There is no legitimate way that Bama should get in over

Nov 28, 2019, 10:02 AM

any one loss conference champion, this year, or any year. Bama had their shot to advance in the game against LSU, and everyone knew what the stakes were going into that game. They lost, and should accept it and wait until next season for another chance at a title. Who can say that Bama would not have lost one or more games if given the same schedule as one of the one loss conference champions? SEC Homers would tell you they would be undefeated. Those same Homers are telling you to totally disregard Georgia's loss to a terrible Coot team. Don't buy the hype.

A 1 loss non champ should never get in over a 2 loss champ

Nov 28, 2019, 10:04 AM

you simply can not assume that they win the game they don't play

but but but "eye test"

Nov 28, 2019, 11:26 AM

That freakin subjective bulkcrap should be immediately eliminated from the vocabulary of people who are supposed to be judging teams objectively.

Re: but but but "eye test"

Of course it's subjective. How else do you rank teams who haven't played one another? A lot of talk here about how Clemson will destroy everyone else. What do you base that on other than the "eye test"?

Statistically, we are better this year than last year

and nobody was even close to us last year, not even Saracuse. They just caught us early.

everyone has their own version of eye test. the basic premise

Nov 28, 2019, 12:44 PM [ in reply to Re: but but but "eye test" ]

of forming the committee was to reduce subjectivity. Read the 4 primary factors for the rankings. You don't see anything resembling "eye test". To suggest it should be part of an objective selection is silly. Not everyone thinks we would "destroy" everyone, but that doesnt really matter either way. I'm talking about the actual rankings and not the opinions of fans. And just because you would actually like to believe the talking head influenced #4 ranking your dogs have, you clearly dont deserve it after losing on your home field to freakin uofsc. No excuses. You failed the eye test and the reality test.

So you can assume that Oklahoma would have beaten LSU?

I do like the idea of having the 2 highest ranked teams that are not playing for their conf championship, playing their 13th game. Maybe at home for highest ranked team. That would give CFPC another data point to consider.

Call it the "2nd Chance Bowl". The winner is not guaranteed a playoff spot, it is still up to the CFPC. Both teams are still eligible for other non-playoff BOWL games.

I think it's a shame that LSU, Bama and UGA can't all be in.

I'd love to see all three sent home with a loss and be delighted to see two of them get ravaged by our Tigers.
