Hank Aaron and it really isn't even close based on what he had to endure and all he still managed to accomplish.

I agree completely. I lived in Atlanta during the summer of ‘73 and watched #44 hit his 709th and 713th four baggers! I was a brand new baseball fan and have been an avid Braves fan ever since! RIP hank Aaron! Go Tigers.

summer of 1973. I was able to see Aaron was get close to Ruth's record. I had to get back to Greenville,SC in August to start high school football practice.
As we all know Aaron finished 1973 with 713 homers. He hit 714 during the first game of the season on the road against Cincinnati. Everyone was hoping he would break the record at home, which he did the first home game against the Dodgers in Atlanta. I will always remember his run around the base paths, and his celebration with his teammates at home plate.

Absolutely Hank Aaron. Spahn, Jones, Matthews, Maddox, Glavine, and Smoltz next. Ruth the greatest player of all time, IMHO. But he only played a few games for the Boston Braves.
