‘‘Twas the night before Gameday...

when all through the desert
Not a Tiger was worried, not even a cub;
The helmets were hung in the lockers with care,
In hopes that the game soon would be there;
The players were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of victory danced in their heads;
And Dabo in his sweatshirt,
Had said “tweet that” before a long winter's nap,
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
Dabo sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the Tiger Rag.
The lights shining down on the freshly mown field,
Gave a luster of midday to objects below,
When what to his wondering eyes did appear,
But Brent Venables preparing with eleven fiery defenders and one get back coach,
With Jimmy Greenbeans so lively and quick,
Dabo knew in a moment Fields must be getting sick.
More rapid than Etienne his defenders they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Simmons! now, Kendrick! now Terrell and Wallace!
On, Skalski! on, Smith! on, Thomas and Davis!
From the top of the Hill! to the shadow of Death Valley!
Now run ETN! run Higgins! run Tiger O!"
With the ROY Bus full, and the Tigers chomping at the bit—
Dabo heard on the roof
The prancing and clawing of each little paw.
As Dabo drew in his head, and was turning around,
On the tv the media was speaking of Clemsoning and expecting the loss, for the Buckeyes from Columbus are much more superior.
Then Dabo shook with a laugh, like a bowl absent of gamecocks.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled Tiger hearts all in full of joy;
then turned with a jerk,
And said bring your own guts,
“Go Tigers to all, and to all a good night!”
