what they want. In the most precarious of times they want a return to normalcy and the idyllic American life and they will believe anything he says to get it, even a red, white and blue, virus-free Easter Bunny.
With an assist from a loyal 24/7 tv and radio broadcast propaganda machine, he is able to shape reality into whatever he wants. When reality zigs, he zags and people follow him like he has the sine qua non they need, oblivious to facts so obvious to others around them.
This is the Karl Rove playbook:
