Best Case Scenario for Us Today
Dec 7, 2019, 10:02 AM
|
|
Following the Utah loss last night, I believe that the following is the best-case scenario for us today:
1) We win (of course) 2) LSU Beats Georgia (almost assures us a spot even if we lost) 3) Wisconsin beats Ohio State (reasons below) 4) Okalahoma/Baylor doesn't really matter for this scenario
If the above happens, I believe the rankings will be as follows: 1) LSU 2) Clemson 3) Oklahoma/Baylor Winner 4) Ohio State
LSU-Ohio State in Atlanta Clemson-OU/Baylor in Arizona We generally like 2 seeds
If Georgia Beats LSU with the above, then we move up to #1 and will play in Atlanta, but opponent would be LSU or Ohio State (With Georgia vs. Oklahoma/Baylor in Arizona).
If LSU and Ohio State both win, then we are 3 and play one of them in Arizona.
If Georgia and Ohio State win, then we play Georgia - I think in Arizona, but they COULD place that game in Atlanta. This is the most controversial scenario because the 4 seed could be either LSU or the Oklahoma/Baylor winner.
GO TIGERS! Send the Hoos back to Hooville!

Conference Championship

The Committee has in their charge to prioritize conference championships. Many media outlets have forgotten this. The CFP Committee has NEVER put a non-conference champion ahead of a team with BOTH the same number of losses AND a conference championship. I know there is a TON of discussion of that happening this year (with Ohio State or LSU), but I don't think they'd break precedent. That's why I believe Oklahoma/Baylor would be ahead of Ohio State (or LSU or Clemson) if any of the undefeated teams lost.
As for the person above that referenced us just winning... of course... just posting this to look at best-case vs. worst case scenarios. I believe the best case is Clemson and LSU winning. The Worst case is both Tigers losing (as it definitely eliminates us).

I have agreed with that thought for a while...but the media has pushed this idea that LSU and OSU are already in so much that I don't think the committee will drop them.

Win and go to ATL or PHoenix. No way in the world that O31O St drops to 4 , will not happen.

anyone else want us to be #3 because we seemingly never lose big games in white jerseys/orange pants combo, or is that just me??

That's not even close to the best scenario for Clemson.

Clemson wins by two points. OSU, LSU and OU or Baylor blow out their opponents. Clemson drops to 4, LSU moves to 1 and we play LSU as the visitors in ATL.
It's only unthinkable if you don't think it.
