We lost a good boy yesterday, maybe the goodest boy.

Dec 7, 2017, 7:27 AM

We had to let therealAyejoe go yesterday. We found the tumor last year around New Years. His health was a deciding factor in my wife and I not travelling to the National Championship last year and I don’t regret choosing to stay with him for a second. He outlived their predictions by about ten months. That’s how tough he was. He never showed pain and never quit fighting. But his body was betraying him and we couldn’t let him struggle any longer. It’s one of life’s cruelest jokes that we take these animals into our hearts knowing that we will outlive them. But we do it anyway. Because they can teach us how to love unconditionally. Like the old joke says, put your wife and your dog in the trunk of a car for an hour and see which one is happy to see you when you open the lid.

Born 10-17-2004, therealAyejoe ends his career with a 133-48 record overall. 8-6 versus our little brother in the midlands. 4 ACC Championships. And a National Title. When we win these next couple in January I’m going to give him some of the credit for those too. I always said he was a 100 pound Tiger who’s stripes were so wide they were touching.

Go Tigers.

T's and P's for you and the family

Dec 7, 2017, 7:32 AM

so hard to lose a good dog - there is nothing comparable to the love a dog has for its owner.

Sorry to hear.

Dec 7, 2017, 7:35 AM

Sorry for your lost of a family member.....

Dec 7, 2017, 7:53 AM

I see a puppy in your future. Maybe Christmas?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Great idea, but way ahead of you

Dec 7, 2017, 8:13 AM

we got his little brother about 7 months ago so that he could learn from the old man. Do not recommend having a geriatric dog and a puppy at the same time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

dang, are you me? We've got a yaller one too, he's 5.

Dec 7, 2017, 8:22 AM

They've got the same father, different mothers. And they're tight like yours appear to be.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This.

Dec 7, 2017, 8:29 AM [ in reply to Great idea, but way ahead of you ]

My wife has done this with our last two dogs. Had the old one, got a puppy before the old one died.

Seems like the puppies pick up all the old dogs bad habits and none of the good.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We're about 50/50 on the good vs bad habits

Dec 7, 2017, 8:56 AM

I don't think we'll wait so long to get the next one though. Let them have some more time together.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it perked our old one up when we got the younger one

Dec 7, 2017, 8:58 AM

last year. But the younger one plays kinda rough with the elder dog sometimes.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

oh what a good boy

Dec 7, 2017, 7:56 AM

sorry for your loss

Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!

Anyway you lose.

Dec 7, 2017, 7:58 AM

The only thing worst than losing a good dog is never having had one.

Sorry for your loss. He looks a lot like our Bailey girl.

Dec 7, 2017, 8:13 AM

She's 14, getting kinda creaky, but still hanging in there. Labs are awesome.

Dec 7, 2017, 8:59 AM

The trainer that we got his little brother from has bred and trained labs and Boykins. He said there is a saying among trainers that Labs are born half trained and spaniels die half trained.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I normally just get a sad when I read these but when I read

Dec 7, 2017, 8:24 AM

that second paragraph it kinda got a little oniony like in here.

Sorry for your loss.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sucks man, glad he had a nice long life though***

You know...

Dec 7, 2017, 8:29 AM

the true believers see God as infallible, but you'll never convince me that he didn't completely screw up when it came to setting the lifespan of dogs.

Truly sorry for your loss.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dogs life used to be longer

Dec 7, 2017, 10:38 AM

Before the flood ya know. Comparable to human life like the Old Testament heroes. Praise Mothra.

Dec 7, 2017, 8:43 AM
