The Cannon at Games

Sep 23, 2015, 10:18 PM

Does anyone else think our use of the cannon at games could be "upgraded"? With the military tradition that Clemson has, I would love to see us use a cannon similar to the way Texas A&M uses theirs in Kyle Field. Right now we have kind-of a pop-cork type of cannon, pulled by a guy who runs around with it in shorts and tennis shoes. I would love to see this process taken over by ROTC, etc. Thoughts?

I completely agree,

Clemson's little pea-shooter is a joke. Missouri has a great cannon that is manned by ROTC personnel. Don't understand why nobody has stepped up and pushed for this change.

As a former Marine Artilleryman, I would happily offer my services to make better booms all for the low cost of a spot field level. Will scare them all the way down to Cootlumbia.

Negative. The cannon is meant to be heard, not seen.

I agree that a nice looking cannon would be cool, but IMO, It's a tradition that shouldn't be messed with.

I agree. We have had the same cannon for as long as I can remember. That thing makes an amazing amount of noise for its size, kind of like a Capon in that respect.
