absolute best that we could have ever hoped for at that position. He is pure class. And there is no doubt that there is a clear drop-off between him and his backups. However, ESPN puts that graphic up that shows the difference yards per play and hurries etc. when Lawrence is in as opposed to his backups. One thing that makes those numbers worse than they might necessarily be is that when the entire mop up sub defense is in, Dexter is not in there. I know Huggins and Pinckney are in during real contested game snaps, but when the entire mop up defense is in, those two are more likely to be in than Dexter. Therefore, there is not as much support and the yards are going to be higher.

Yeah I know, I caught that too and immediately thought of the exact scenario you laid out. Obviously there is some or they wouldn’t be the backup but without extensive analysis of every single play, and taking in the account of teams we were playing, coupled with what the score was at the time and what defense was called etc. no way to objectively quantify it.
The only person that probably knows is CBV and I can confidently say as can you, he’s been scheming since last Thursday to eliminate any drop off!
