The position that lost the most talent, with the least amount replacing it

Aug 8, 2017, 8:26 AM

Tight End.

Everything else is fine. Tight End is going to be our worst position this year.

If our worst position is being replaced by a 4-star who had a ton of snaps last year, I think we will be fine

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

nobody played a ton of snaps behind JL, and they certainly

didn't get the targets

No TE other than Leggett had "a ton of snaps", if you were to argue one, it would be Garrett Williams who tore his ACL. I have great hope for Richards (like I do for every player) but we've seen almost nothing to be comfortable with the current roster of TEs

TE will be fine - quality guys who were stuck behind a great

TE - some of those guys are beasts.

No they are not.

Losing Garrett Williams to an ACL tear on top of losing Leggett to the draft was a blow. The dude killed it as a blocker but was also probably going to see his role expand as a catcher this year.

Milan Richard looks the part and has the athleticism but the more you watch tape, frankly, the less you like his blocking...and he's only caught 1 ball for 9 yards in his career.

Cannon Smith can block some and has all of 2 catches for 25 yards to his name. He looks like a big on-the-line TE, not a downfield weapon like Leggett was.

Shadell Bell is the opposite - a converted WR and is basically a big pumped-up 9-receiver trying to bulk up and get proficient enough with his blocking to see time.

JC Chalk we haven't seen anything from since he redshirted. Nobody else has any stats or has played hardly at all.

All of that is the reason I'm hearing we're looking at a lot of 4-wide this year. The TE's just are not all that strong this year.

Well if we are 4 wide, how bad can possibly having Cain, Renfrow, Higgins/Overton, and Thompson/Ray Ray/ CP/Amari be? Think about.

You've got to actually "target" these guys to get them more than 2 catches.

None of those guys are as good as JL***

I never said he was targeted last year because he wasn't TARGETED on purpose. Yes Richard did get a lot of reps as the backup TE. He will be fine IF they give him the chance. Time will tell. Obviously i see more in him than some.

Actually he had 144 as opposed to 146 for Williams. Leggett had over 900. I still think Richard can make the plays if given the opportunity. It is definitely returning the least experience.

JL played 954 snaps, MR only played 144...Maybe you didn't

Aug 8, 2017, 4:08 PM

look at the numbers before you commented on MR's snap count? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't look at the numbers before you spoke

Ummmmmm, did you not see my post above?

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I saw the post where you said MR played a ton of snaps...Did

Aug 8, 2017, 5:55 PM

you think 144 was a ton or did you just post that he had logged a ton of snaps without actually looking at his numbers? You DO want me to assume you just posted without looking at his numbers no?

The Jordan Leggett Seam route was crucial to our success last year.
