"The SEC has had a terrific run," Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany said. "Narratives are based on facts. But sometimes narratives overcome the facts. ... Winning games on big stages, it certainly reset that. Until you actually win the game, you can't expect anybody to change the momentum of the narrative. The article is pretty spot on, but ignores the real problem. ESPN created the monster, by blowing up the Narrative. Of course the SEC was the best. But they blew it out of proportion. This resulted in an all SEC national championship, (Bama and LSU) which resulted in the the New Playoff. The playoff has helped some. Just think in the BCS, we would have watched Bama and FSU more than like likely. So there is improvement by settling this much on the field. But TCU has an argument by having as good a record. Until we get to at least 8 teams and take away most of the subjectivity by having conference champs before at large bids, then the media will continue to influence the process more than it should.
